General

1. Where do I download LeapFTP?
You can download LeapFTP 3.0 from this page.
2. I already have LeapFTP 2.x installed. Will I lose my sites if I upgrade to 3.0?
No. LeapFTP 3.0 detects an existing installation of LeapFTP 2.x and automatically imports your sites. You can also use the Import feature in the Tools menu of the Site Manager to import sites.
3. What operating systems is LeapFTP 3.0 compatible with?
LeapFTP 3.0 has been tested on Windows 98, 98: SE, NT 4.0, 2000, 2003 (all versions), XP (Home, Professional, x64). Vista (all versions), and Windows 7 (all versions).

Connecting

1. I get an invalid username/password when connecting to my server.
You will need to contact the entity that maintains the server in order to get the correct login information.
2. I recently reinstalled LeapFTP. How can I access my site?
If you no longer have the server, username, and password to access your website, you will need to contact your web host for assistance.
3. LeapFTP was working fine, but I changed my ISP and now it won't work.
This often occurs because LeapFTP was using PORT mode, but is now firewalled and needs PASV mode. To enable this option, go to Edit | Preferences -> Connection and make sure that Connection Mode is set to PASV (Passive).
4. I get "Connection refused" when trying to connect to my server.
This error indicates that no FTP server could be found at the address and port specified. You should contact your host and verify that you have the correct FTP server and port.

Troubleshooting

1. When uploading updates to my website, they do not appear.
This can happen if you are not uploading to the correct directory, or if your browser has cached the old page. Verify that you are uploading the file to the correct directory on the server, and then hold down the Shift key while selecting Reload/Refresh in your browser to force a fresh download of the page.

Registering

LeapFTP is registered by buying a license. Go to this page to purchase a license.
2. I bought LeapFTP previously, but it does not accept my license code now.
If you bought LeapFTP prior to July of 2008, your license is for LeapFTP 2.x. You will need to purchase an upgrade license to use LeapFTP 3.0.
3. How do I complete registration after my purchase?
You must copy the leapftp.key file that you were emailed into the directory where LeapFTP 3.0 is installed, typically C:\Program Files\LeapFTP 3.0.
4. Is there a quantity discount?

5. How long is the license good for?
